The New A-Team Include Tyrese?

As we reported several weeks ago, Twentieth Century Fox has distributed the news to Variety that they have assembled a creative team to transform 1980s TV series The A-Team into a summer 2010 film. As we reported, Director John Singleton is out and the studio has set Joe Carnahan to direct and Ridley Scott to produce, with Tony Scott exec producing through their Scott Free banner.

You may also remember we reported that Singleton who used to be attached to this project had too many disagreements with the studio on the direction of the film and left the project, which opened the door for Joe Carnahan. Carnahan will team with Brian Bloom to polish a script by Skip Woods (of G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra to be released this summer). The intention is to start production by June for a June 11, 2010, release.

Because Singleton dropped out of the film, Carnahan started over with not only a new script, but also a new cast. So because of this we hear that all of the talk for this being a starring vehicle for Tyrese Gibson have now ended- for now.

Chris Rock's New Film Is About WHAT?!

As we reported several months ago, comedic actor Chris Rock is taking a new venture- a new film titled Good Hair, to the big screen -or maybe the little screen first. It turns out the comedian finally finished his documentary that examines the cultural pressures that forces black women into expensive, often painful methods to care for their hair. Rock said he first got the idea to explore the subject during a tour stop in Atlanta in the mid-1990s, when he came across a glitzy convention for black stylists known as the Bronner Brothers Hair Show.

The film follows Rock from the Bronner brothers show to neighborhood salons, businesses dealing in hair-care products and the streets of India, where the hair weave industry is rooted.

Rock recently screened the film at the Sundance Film Festival where it was received with an enthusiastic reception, bolstering his hopes that it can find a broad audience. Produced by HBO, Good Hair eventually will air on the cable channel, but Rock and his collaborators are considering a theatrical release first.

Another Ghostbusters Film In The Works?

We hear this week that Columbia Pictures is in the planning stages of a new installment of its blockbuster Ghostbusters franchise. We hear the films’ Producers are planning to bring back together the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Ivan Reitman possibly to direct, as he directed both the 1984 original and the sequel that was released in 1989. If you remember Ghostbusters was Columbia's highest grossing film ever, until it was beaten by Men in Black and then Spider-Man. Our sources stated to us that an attempt to make a third installment of the franchise was stymied in the deal making stage. It was said that so much gross was pledged to the participants that it was next to impossible for the studio to make any money on a third installment. We have currently discovered that no deals will be made with the original cast until the script is ready, but the gross percentage will certainly be an issue. Stay tuned.

Katt Williams Pimp Slapped?

According to Katt Williams himself as he was being interviewed on Detroit Radio Station WJLB he was slapped after an impromptu performance at the very popular Detroit Club titled Cutter's. Katt stated during the interview that he made reference to cowboy boots and a cowboy hat that a guy was wearing while sitting in the front row. After his perfomance the guy approached him and slapped him. The question will always remain as to why Katt did not have any security with him-he usually never does, as he lands in these situations.

What's The Deal Between The Katt Williams & Steve Harvey Beef?

In a news story that we did not want to even mention, it seems that there has been a so-called beef between comedians Katt Wiliams and Steve Harvey that has been brewing for a couple of months. The drama that has been building up was leading up to Harvey and Williams confronting each other as they were booked to join forces during their 2008 Championship of Comedy show at Joe Louis Arena on New Year's Eve in Detroit. A couple of days later, we can say that they did not disappoint. Williams and Harvey had supposedly squashed their differences before the show, but Williams went on stage and called Harvey out and things went down hill from there. The question remains; was this a marketing gimmick? Well, we can say that the show was sold out and lots more struggled to get some tickets, while Harvey has stated that he was "insulted" by Williams' comments on stage. What we can also say is if it was a gimmick, it has gone too far for Harvey who has yet to respond but insiders say to expect a lot from him on his talk show on Monday. Stay tuned!
