Death At A Funeral Film Review!
Today we were able to see a private screening of the new film Death At A Funeral. In case you haven’t heard, the newest film stars comedians Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, and Kevin Hart.
The new film from Screen Gems is about a funeral ceremony turns into a debacle of exposed family secrets and misplaced bodies. The film also stars Danny Glover, Luke Wilson, Columbus Short, Regina Hall, James Marsden, and Loretta Devine and is set to be released by Screen Gems on April 16, 2010.
Anyway, this film is one of the funniest films we have seen in a long time, and is a must-see. We normally don’t write about films this far in advance, but we just had to. The performances of Rock and Lawrence were the usual (and by that we mean funny) but the true stars of the film are Morgan, Glover and James Marsden (who many of you will recognize from The X-Men franchise). This trio of actors stole the show and easily has the funniest film sequences in the entire film. Now we are not going to give anything away, but we will say this; when the film comes out opening weekend, make sure you get in live to purchase a ticket; it will be well worth it.

As Predicted, Mo'Nique Is Nominated For Oscar Gold!
As we predicted several months ago, and was confirmed by the Academy Awards, Mo’Nique was finally nominated for an Oscar. Mo'Nique got the nod for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as an abusive parent in the film titled Precious, which is a family drama based on the novel by Sapphire.
Also as we predicted, Mo'Nique appears to be the frontrunner to take home the Oscar gold for her performance and she has been joined by Penelope Cruz in Nine, Maggie Gyllenhaal in Crazy Heart, and both Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick in Up in the Air.
Mo'Nique created a character of ferocity and hate that lacked any discernable humanity, and her performance is one of the most stand out performances of the film.
We also stated that Mo’Nique wanted her performance in the film to speak for her, and finally we will be able to see if that happens.
