As we predicted several months ago, and was confirmed by the Academy Awards, Mo’Nique was finally nominated for an Oscar. Mo'Nique got the nod for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as an abusive parent in the film titled Precious, which is a family drama based on the novel by Sapphire.Also as we predicted, Mo'Nique appears to be the frontrunner to take home the Oscar gold for her performance and she has been joined by Penelope Cruz in Nine, Maggie Gyllenhaal in Crazy Heart, and both Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick in Up in the Air.
Mo'Nique created a character of ferocity and hate that lacked any discernable humanity, and her performance is one of the most stand out performances of the film.
We also stated that Mo’Nique wanted her performance in the film to speak for her, and finally we will be able to see if that happens.
