Jamie Foxx Joins The Animation Ranks With New Show Based On The Foxxhole!

We just heard from our sources that comedian and actor, (and of course Oscar-winner) Jamie Foxx, is about to voice himself in his new animation project titled The Foxxhole. We also hear what the animation project is about - and get this- the comedy project is loosely based on his Sirius/XM satellite radio program that goes by the same name, The Foxxhole.

Anyway, Foxx and his tight-knit crew of comedian buddies which include Speedy, Lewis Dix, Clayton Thomas, Corey Holcomb and many more convene weekly at The Foxxhole to discuss everything from politics to music to STDs as they do on the actual radio show. The series will also follow Foxx’s whirlwind life as an A-list star and his crew’s attempts to define their own careers. Foxx and Marcus King will executive produce and Lance Crouther will write the pilot. Stay tuned for more news as this develops.

Mo'Nique Has The HOTTEST Oscar Buzz For Her Role In Precious!

The last couple of days we have noticed that there is quite a lot of Oscar buzz, and this week, it seems that the buzz in the Hollywood industry has gotten a little louder. We can say for certain that our Hollywood insiders have started to take notice of Lee Daniels' new film titled Precious: Based on Push a Novel by Sapphire as it has been winning over audiences since it debuted at the Sundance Film Festival last January. The drama featured a strange cast of some experienced and some inexperienced actors including Mo'Nique, Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey as they stunned the Sundance faithful during its world premiere.

Anyway, since the film premiered in January, Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry got behind the film as Producers to support the film, and most recently things have really started to spin out of control for the film, as we heard tonight that the comedian Mo’Nique is a shoo-in for an Oscar nod, which would make her the first ever African American female comedian in over a decade since Whoopi Goldberg to be nominated for an Oscar!

Sure. this could change between now and December when the Academy casts their votes, but as of this writing Mo'Nique is in the lead for Best Supporting Actress.

The film Precious: Based on Push a Novel by Sapphire opens in select theaters November 6th.

The Urban Ocean's 11 Film Titled Trump Heist Moves One Step Closer To Reality

Just in case you haven’t heard, there is about to be an urban version of the hit film Ocean’s Eleven that recently starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt and the late Bernie Mac (to name a few) that will hit the big screen, which will be produced by Imagine Entertainment and Universal Studios. There have been several new developments since we last reported and we have the latest news.

We have discovered that the film is now official and will be directed by Brett Ratner (which no official announcement has been made about his involvement yet), and so far several stars are about to jump on board and sign. Our sources tell us that there will be an official announcement soon, and that the lead for this film looks like it will be Eddie Murphy who will play the leader of the crew of con artists, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Chris Tucker are reportedly in consideration to join the cast. Ratner has hired Ocean’s Eleven scribe Ted Griffin to re-write the script and has completed location scouting in New York for the film.

There has been talk of several top notch actors to play the lead role of the villain, including Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson but that has not been confirmed yet.

In case you are wondering what the film will be about, Trump Heist is an action crime comedy that tells the story of a bunch of employees of the Trump Tower who conspire to rip off the building’s residents.

Anyway, we will have more info on this as it develops.

The George Lopez Late Night Show Prepares For Battle!

We hear that TBS is pulling out all the stops for the new George Lopez late night talk show, titled Lopez Tonight, airing November 9 at 11PM. Lopez has a star studded cast to set things off, and is coming out with all guns blazing. His upcoming guests include Ellen DeGeneres, Eva Longoria-Parker Kobe Bryant, Sandra Bullock, Ray Romano, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Charlie Sheen, Queen Latifah, Marc Anthony, Ted Danson, Andy Garcia, Larry David, Taylor Lautner, Oscar de la Hoya, Kelly Osbourne, Floyd Mayweather, Eva Mendes, Arsenio Hall and Kathy Griffin among others.

Here is an interesting note: When Lopez Tonight was originally scheduled it was planned to be aired at 11:30 PM weeknights not to conflict with The Mo’Nique Show which currently airs on BET and stars comedian Mo'Nique at the same time slot. Along the way, the TBS Network decided that since the show would capture a completely different audience they moved the show to the 11 o’clock time slot, as they were more concerned about the new Tonight Show that features Conan O’Brien. Anyway, the late night battle continues as Lopez launches his show and as Wanda Sykes will join the fray week nights beginning Nov. 7th on FOX with The Wanda Sykes Show.

Is The White Shadow Coming Back To TV?

Our sources have revealed to us that there is going to be a new version of the very short lived but popular 1978 dramatic series The White Shadow coming to television, and with a new name.

In case you are not familiar with the series The White Shadow, it starred Ken Howard as Ken Reeves, a white former NBA professional who retired from the pro game and got a job as a basketball coach in a predominantly black inner-city high school. The series developed into how a white coach tried to teach his players about life, and how to deal with real life issues.

Anyway, we hear the new series is co-executive produced, written by and directed by actor Larry B. Scott (of Revenge Of The Nerds fame and The Karate Kid fame), with the show to be titled My New Life. The show is still rounding out the new cast but we hear Olivia Brown (of Miami Vice fame), Jazsmin Lewis (Of Barbershop and Three Can Play That Game fame) and Eddie Valez (of General Hospital) is attached so far.

As the news develops on this show we will bring it to you, including which network you can catch it on.

NBC Adds ANOTHER Urban Comedy Project To Their New Season!

It looks like the NBC Network is stepping it up with more urban shows for the upcoming season as we hear that they added another new urban show to their slate.

Last week we first reported that NBC had landed actor Don Cheadle (of Crash and The Ocean 11 films) and Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder for a new urban half-hour comedy series about brothers who reunite after a long dispute to open a private security company to their own dismay.

Well, this week we hear that NBC has added a new show titled Ordinary People which is about a married couple in their late 20s who are fast-tracked professionals with four kids. The father figure named Kevin, after spending most of his time on the road as a Rolling Stone music reporter, is promoted to columnist and works from home, a change that requires adjustment for everyone in the family.

The show revolves around the real life past experiences of writer Kenya Barris who is also the show’s co-developer and Executive Producer. As of this writing the show has yet to tap an official cast. Stay tuned for more info soon!

Barbershop 3 Finally Gets A Green Light!

We just discovered from our sources that it looks like the long rumored film Barbershop 3 is finally moving forward. There has been no official word from the studio, but our sources tell us that the film is in the works. As of this writing no one –including Ice Cube and Cedric The Entertainer- has been attached to the film as of yet, and we are not sure if there is a scrip yet, but we do know that the studio has expressed extreme interest in bringing back the entire cast for the film, and has finally gave the film the green light.

In case you missed the two previous films made in 2002 and 2004, the Barbershop films are basically about a day in the life of a barbershop on the south side of Chicago. The lead character Calvin (portrayed by Ice Cube), inherits the struggling business from his deceased father, views the shop as nothing but a burden and waste of his time. After selling the shop to a local loan shark, Calvin slowly begins to see his father's vision and legacy and struggles with the notion that he just sold it out. The barbershop is filled with characters who share their stories, jokes, trials and tribulations.

In the shop there is Eddie (Cedric The Entertainer), an old barber with strong opinions and no customers. Jimmy (Sean Patrick Thomas) is a highly educated barber with a superiority complex who can't stand Isaac (Troy Garrity), the new, white barber who just wants a shot at cutting some hair. Ricky (Michael Ealy) is an ex-con with two strikes against him and is desperately trying to stay straight. Terri (Eve) is a hard-edged woman who can't seem to leave her two-timing boyfriend. And lastly there's Dinka (Leonard Earl Howze), a fellow barber who is madly in love with Terri but doesn't get the time of day.

NBC Takes A Leap With New Urban Comedy Series!

We hear that the NBC Network is about to stock up with more comedy on their slate to assist in the Jay Leno sweepstakes, and their new gamble is now in the urban field. Word has it that actor Don Cheadle (of Crash and The Ocean 11 films) and Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder were recently tapped to head up a new half-hour comedy series about brothers who reunite after a long dispute to open a private security company to their own dismay. The laughter will be based upon how the brothers interact with each other as the story line develops. McGruder will write for the show and be an Executive Producer along with Cheadle, and Universal is Producing the show. No word yet on who will portray the other brother for the show.

We are not sure what this means for FOX’s new sitcom Brothers that stars Michael Strahan and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, meaning if two urban show about brothers can coexist, but hopefully both shows will be around so we can talk about it.

Up next for Cheadle is the very much anticipated films Iron Man 2, The Avengers and Brooklyn's Finest and McGruder is currently taping and putting the finishing touches on a new season of The Boondocks.

The Janky Promoters Finally Opens To A Very Limited Release

We just got word that the new film from Ice Cube and Mike Epps, one of the most anticipated comedy films of the year titled Janky Promoters, was finally released- and it slipped right past us BECAUSE the studio released it with a very limited theater run. The studio, Third Rail Releasing, didn’t expect the very limited release and made very many moves to get it released theatrically so it wouldn’t go straight to the DVD shelves. As you may already know, the film had its release date moved at least three times- and that’s just the amount of times we know of.

The film also stars Young Jeezy, Lahmard Tate, Julio Oscar Mechoso, Tamala Jones, "Lil' JJ" James Lewis, Glenn Plummer, and Juanita Jennings as it follows the shenanigans of a pair of shady concert promoters (Cube and Epps), self-described "Modesto's finest," who get in over their heads when they get a shot at booking a big-name hip-hop act. As with any film starring Epps and Cube, complications come in the form of a pot-growing neighborhood nemesis named Mondo and Cube's character's son (Nickelodeon star Little JJ), who is under contract with the old man. From this point on there are many similarities to many of their past films, but we will let you be the judge. Check out the film in a very limited release.

Rick James Biopic Coming To Life As A Feature Film, Will It Star Terrence Howard?

Today we discovered that another biopic is in the works as a feature film, and this time the film will be about R&B icon, Rick James. As we all know, James was an extremely popular R&B and funk singer in the late 1970s and 1980s, scoring four #1 hits on the U.S. R&B charts. Among his best-known songs are "Superfreak" and "You and I".

In addition to his music, he gained notoriety for his wild lifestyle: later in life, James' drug abuse led to widely publicized legal problems.

All of this is said to be documented in the upcoming film, and we discovered this news from James' daughter Ty James.

We even heard that there are discussions with actor Terrence Howard (of Hustle & Flow fame) to play the lead role but nothing has been finalized yet. For more information about the film check back here as we will broadcast the entire interview on Humor Mill TV shortly.

BET Brings The Game Back For Overtime!

According to the cast of the former CW TV show, The Game, it looks like what we reported several weeks ago has finally come to pass. It seems that The BET Network has stepped up to save the show and picked up the show from the CW network to produce and broadcast a fourth season of the show. As of this writing, we hear that the entire cast of the show including Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall and Wendy Raquel Robinson are all being flown to Atlanta to commence shooting the series.

We hear that since the entire cast was on board for a fourth season, BET and CBS Television Studios were able to hammer out a lower, cable-appropriate licensing fee with which new episodes could be produced.

According to our source, the idea of BET stepping forward and saving The Game actually came from the show's cast.

After contacting BET, they have neither confirmed or denied this report. More info as this story develops.

Eddie Murphy & Mike Epps Out, Marlon Wayans Lands Role Of Richard Pryor

As we reported a couple of months ago about comedic actor Eddie Murphy walking away from the Richard Pryor film along with Paramount, it now looks like the Execs quickly moved in to get someone else to replace him, and it looks like that person is comedic actor Marlon Wayans.

To quickly get you up to speed, comedic actor Mike Epps was originally attached but the producers discovered that Eddie Murphy wanted to play Pryor and once that happened, the deal was quickly closed. But once production started word leaked that there were some creative differences and Murphy lost interest in their direction of the film.

Now Director Bill Condon ( of Dreamgirls fame) is still moving forward with Richard Pryor, but as we stated Murphy is out and so are Paramount Pictures and Fox Searchlight.

As the producers set up a new casting call, it seems Marlon Wayans emerged in the lead role. Wayans so impressed producers of the film with his dramatic audition featuring two scenes directly from the film that he landed the part.

In also more surprising move, we also discovered that the film will be produced by Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions at Sony Pictures.

Oprah Winfrey & Chris Rock Team Up For New Comedy Film

We just discovered from our spies over at Lionsgate Films (and our friends at Variety)that Lionsgate plans to partner with Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Films to acquire rights to the GQ Magazine article that was titled Will You Be My Black Friend?”

For those of us who have no idea what the article was about, it was a very funny account by writer Devin Friedman (senior correspondent at GQ) about his stupid attempt to make friends with people of color.

It turns out that this film is going to be developed as a star vehicle for comedian and actor Chris Rock.

After a cocktail party, the writer has an epiphany that his entire social circle is the same color, and the white writer tries to make an attempt to make black friends, down to soliciting prospective pals in a Craigslist ad.

He later discovers that race aside, it is very difficult to make meaningful friends later in life.

The film will be produced by Winfrey, Kate Forte and Carla Gardini.

Deon Cole Lands Writer Gig On The Tonight Show

We just discovered that Chicago's own comedian Deon Cole has just landed a gig to join the newly revamped Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien on NBC.

After the poor ratings the last couple of weeks for The Tonight Show (they lost out to The David Letterman Show on CBS for the first time in weeks), they executives thought it was time to make a change.

As one of the only African Americans to land that type of job, this is an amazing opportunity for Cole, as he now has the opportunity to land an Emmy for writing and more! Look at it this way; Conan O'Brien was also a writer for The Tonight Show and Saturday Night Live.
