Variety has confirmed a story that we told you about several months ago; it seems that director
Ice Cube is back in the saddle with his new comedy film titled
Lottery Ticket which we hear is going to star rapper
Bow Wow. Several months ago we heard that the producers were looking at
Tracy Morgan (who they later decided was too old for the part) and maybe even
Brandon T. Jackson. Our sources say that the producers of the project
Alcon Entertainment (Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove) along with
Evolution partners
Mark Burg,Oren Koules and
Matt Alvarez of Ice Cube's production company,
Cube Vision, decided to lean another way instead of the normal route of hiring an up- and-comer comedian as in the past.
The film
Lottery Ticket revolves around a young man, portrayed by
Bow Wow, living in the projects who has to survive a three-day weekend after his opportunistic neighbors find out he's holding a winning lottery ticket worth $350 million. The film will be directed by music video pro Erik White, who will make his feature directorial debut on the project, which is set to begin production in Atlanta in October.
