A Moment In Comedy History With... Reginald Hudlin!

Here is the first clip of a new series titled "A Moment In Comedy History With..." where we will examine major points in comedy history that the media didn't cover or something that may have been overlooked. This new series will look at what was overlooked or passed over.

Here is an interview with Director, writer, and producer Reginald Hudlin who was the original creator, writer and director (his brother Warrington was the film's Producer) of the House Party film.

In case you are unaware, Hudlin’s film House Party was originally a thesis for school he made while attending Harvard and the short thesis ended up as a feature film that was released in 1990.

The feature film ended up as an instant classis while also launching the careers of Kid & Play, Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Robin Harris, A J Johnson, Darryl “Chill” Mitchell, Full Force, and many others.

We got a chance to sit down with Hudlin to discuss the film (since it is the 20 year anniversary of the release of House Party) and we discovered lots of interesting things that occurred in the development of the film- especially how Will Smith almost landed in the film! Imagine that!

Check out the interview!

‘Laverne & Shirley’ Remake To Be Written By Jamie Foxx!

Word has started to spread about the new Jamie Foxx project because of a TV Guide report that the comedian, musician and actor is supposedly said to be writing a script for a big screen adaptation of TV’s Laverne & Shirley with the show’s co-creator, Garry Marshall.

We hear that it will be a different take, more of a modern day scenario on how they came up on the streets during difficult times. We hear that the Laverne character would be this very tough girl with a big ‘L’ tattooed on her arm.

Marshall is looking at Jennifer Garner for the role of Laverne and Jessica Biel for the part of Shirley. He directed both actresses as well as Foxx in romantic comedy Valentine’s Day.

If you remember the old series on ABC, Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams played the roles in the original series.

According to our sources Foxx did agree to write the script but is bogged down with several other projects from writing a new album, to several new films including writing the new film he writing with Martin Lawrence titled Sheneneh and Wanda from Screen Gems. So, we are not too sure about the time table of this project as it seems Foxx will be extremely busy for the next several years.

Eddie Murphy's New Film Is A Romantic Comedy?!

We just discovered that comedic actor Eddie Murphy is really keeping it moving after all.

Of course, the news has been widely spread about Murphy dropping out of the Richard Pryor biopic film that now has Marlon Wayans as the lead. We also are well aware of Murphy pulling out of the new Ocean’s Eleven comedic remake that has recently cast Ben Stiller in the lead role, which also changed its name from Trump Tower to Tower Heist. We even discovered about Murphy remaking another Nutty Professor film and a Beverly Hills Cop 4 film.

But we bet you didn’t see this coming; Murphy is set to star in a new romantic comedy, a la Boomerang! That’s right, we discovered through our sources that Murphy is planning on starring in the new film tentatively titled Adam and Eve: The First Love Story where Murphy will play the lead role.

No word yet on whom else is starring in the film, but we did discover the film has picked up some steam and is to begin lensing by the fall.

Is Miguel Nunez Jr. Set To Play Tiger Woods?!

Is this a coincidence or what? We heard that Spike TV ordered a single-camera pilot television project titled Back Nine, starring John Schneider (formerly of The Dukes of Hazzard fame) as Ronnie Barnes, a has-been former US Open champ who travels the US competing in small-time tournaments in hopes of qualifying for the PGA Tour.

What really makes this story interesting is that traveling with Ronnie is Tiger, his sex-addicted caddy and comedic actor Miguel Nunez is taking on the role.

Jason Filardi and Mark Perez are writing the project as well as direct the pilot and executive produce with John Lynch. Spike TV originally green lit the Back Nine script a year ago with the sex-addicted character named Tiger as part of the plot early on, obviously without having any indication of what was going to happen to the real Tiger Woods despite any of the rumors you may have heard.

Jamie Foxx To Play A Villain In His New Role!

Our sources today have disclosed to us that Jamie Foxx is about to sign on in another film, but this time is he going down the same path that Denzel Washington did as a villain named Alonzo in the film Training Day? Well, the simple answer is yes.

We have learned that Foxx is about to sign to play a villain in the new film titled Kane & Lynch: Dead Men which is another video game adapted film.

We hear that actor Bruce Willis has already signed on to the project as Kane, a death row inmate who is sprung from jail to recover a pinched fortune. It’s a task that he must complete along with a schizophrenic killer called Lynch, which is the role being offered to Foxx.

The difference of any other big screen adaption from a video game is that this film is bringing two well known actors as leading roles. Expectations are about to be pretty high for this action drama.

We also hear relatively unknown scribe Kyle Ward has written the script (he’s also signed on for Hitman 2), and no word has been set yet for a release date.
