The Film Push Changes It's Name

We just discovered more news from the Lee Daniels-directed film titled Push. It seems that the film is going to have a name change from its current title and be renamed Precious, after the film's lead character. Currently the film is trying to be distinguished from the current Dakota Fanning and Djimon Hounsou film of the same name.

As we told you a couple of weeks ago Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry will team up to help promote the film through their respective film companies, Harpo Films and 34th Street Films. The film became only the third film in Sundance Film Festival history to win the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Awards in the U.S. Dramatic Competition last month.

The film stars comedian Mo’Nique, newcomer Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz.

The comedic actress Mo'Nique, everyone's favorite Mother from the hit show UPN's The Parkers is about to add another VILLAIN to her resume. Mo'Nique, who turned lots of heads from her dramatic performance in the films Domino and Shadowboxer, is now in the new film titled Push which is debuting at the Sundance Film Festival next week.

The eagerly anticipated film, based on the best-selling book of the same name, boasts an all-star cast including Paula Patton, Lenny Kravitz, Mariah Carey, Kimberly Russell, Gabourey Sidibe (in the starring role), and Sherri Shepherd of ABC's The View.

Mo'Nique plays the main character's very abusive and evil mother in the film. Push is a film that is the story of a confused, overweight African-American girl named Clareece "Precious" Jones. Verbally and sexually abused by her family, her troubles lead to problems in school. Precious, as she is known, has no friends, no money, two kids (from her father), and she's illiterate.
