Kevin Hart Stars In New Modern Day Version Of The Odd Couple!

We just discovered that a network is going to remake the infamous show of yesteryear The Odd Couple!

In case you are unfamiliar with The Odd Couple, it was originally a 1965 Broadway play by Neil Simon, which was followed by a successful film and television series, as well as other derivative works and spin offs, many featuring one or more of the same actors. The plot is about two mismatched roommates, one neat and uptight, the other more easygoing.

The show is about the two characters, one named Felix Ungar, who is a neurotic, neat freak newswriter (photographer in the television series), is thrown out by his wife, and moves in with his friend Oscar Madison, a messy sportswriter. In its original Broadway run, Ungar was played by Art Carney and Madison by Walter Matthau. Matthau was later replaced with Jack Klugman.

Fast forward to 2010 and we hear that Comedy Central is moving the yet to be titled show along with Kevin Hart and Bill Burr. We hear the show is a half hour scripted comedy which is gearing up to be launched this fall and to be produced by 3Arts Entertainment.

Joe Torry Signs With Universal & Moves Forward With New Reality Show!

We just discovered that comedian Joe Torry has been quietly building up some great momentum with several new ventures about to drop in the market, besides just doing standup.
First up, we hear that Torry has recently signed a Voicetone deal with Universal Music Group and a new company titled Krazy Swag Entertainment that will jointly make available their new product on June 29th.
We also discovered a new film project that Torry has taken on, tentatively titled Pawn Shop, (which is being produced by Torry), and he is also taking on a new TV project as he is currently filming a new reality show with his brother Guy Torry. We hear there are several networks interested  which may include BET, VH1 and/or Comedy Central- but we can't say for certain yet. We do know that the full details on the show will be released soon.
Finally, we also discovered that Torry is also becoming a book author, as his new book is going to be titled The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. No word yet on what the book will actually be about, but if we had to guess we would have to say it's his ventures in the stand-up industry and his rise to meteoric fame which began way back as he was the second host of the very popular Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam series on HBO.

Ice Cube Leans Away From Comedy With New Dramatic Project

We just discovered that rapper, director and actor Ice Cube, who just premiered his new documentary Straight Outta L.A. at the Tribeca Film Festival-and created a lot of buzz about his project- is returning to his early roots in film with a drama that's straight out of the headlines in L.A.

We hear Cube will star with actors Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster in a new film titled Rampart, the new dramatic film about police corruption.

We hear that Cube will play a homicide detective sent to investigate a dirty cop (Harrelson) in a drama that is squarely based on the scandal involving crooked Los Angeles cops in the 1990s.

As we reported earlier, Cube just recently produced the new comedy film titled Lottery Ticket that also stars Bow Wow, Brandon T. Jackson, Mike Epps and many more, and opens August 20th. Cube is also producing the new sitcom titled Are We There Yet?, a series that bows on TBS June 2nd.

If the movie spinoff reaches a certain ratings threshold over the first 10 episodes, TBS will pick up another 90 episodes.

Nate Jackson Crowned As The New Winner Of The Bay Area Black Comedy Competition!

The city famous for its award-winning coffee, Grunge music and fabled wet weather is over 800 miles north of Oakland, yet Seattle funnyman Nate Jackson, walked away with top honors at the 24th edition of The Bay Area Black Comedy Competition on April 17th at Oakland's Paramount Theatre like he was in his own backyard. Jackson now joins the groundbreaking event's famous alumni that include: Jamie Foxx, DL Hughley, Don "DC" Curry, Mike Epps, Katt Williams, Chris Tucker, Nick Cannon and Oakland's own Mark Curry, whose careers got that all important first push at the landmark contest.

"The crowd gave it up to Nate," recounts Competition founder Tony Spires. "It was a quality field of nine seasoned professionals this year. Nate's focus and his energy were the difference. He was on fire instantly," Spires adds. Convinced that there is strength in numbers, Jackson, a seven-year comedy veteran, didn't come alone. The 26 year-old Jackson, a student of comedy, who also holds a bachelors of science degree in Organizational Communications, became the professor that night, as he taught a class on onstage shtick, as well as strategy.

An impressive 37 of Jackson's biggest fans flew, drove and trained from Washington's "Emerald City" to California's Golden Gate to pay their young prospect the highest honor and help cheer him on to victory. His enthusiastic clan included his parents, along with a varied assortment of friends and family. "Maybe that's why he felt so at home," Spires added. "He had his people in the house."

"My goal was to win. I just wanted to do what I knew I was capable of doing. I was determined to have the best set of my life. I left the rest in God's hands," comments Jackson. If Saturday, April 17th, 2010 was any indication, Nate Jackson just expanded his territory and his fan-base. "I couldn't believe it! I immediately got 80 congratulatory text messages from friends. My Facebook and Twitter were off the charts! I'm in great company, now. I feel like big things are going to happen for me!" exclaimed Jackson. There were a total of 9 Finalists from all over the country, many who had much more experience than the winner but Jackson didn't bow to seniority. Rounding out the top three spots were Memphis' Henry Coleman and Chicago's Marcus Combs.

"We celebrate our 25th Silver Anniversary in 2011 and I'm looking forward to discovering and presenting the next generation of stand-up comedians to the world-who often double as 'industry game-changers' like Jamie Foxx and Katt Williams," Spires touted.

The BABCCF, the pioneering event that is a precursor to TV shows like HBO's Def Comedy Jam and BET's Comic View, was emceed by 1995 champion comedian/actor Don "DC" Curry. Opening the festivities was the youth performing arts ensemble Vision's Kids, who performed their latest offering, "The Art Of Education," an inspiring musical message to save our youth.

The evening was kicked-off by Full Vision Arts Foundation and LA Jones & Associates' 6th Annual Inspired Artist Awards Ceremony and Reception. The ceremony honored outstanding members in the community who have achieved recognition-worthy status through service. On Friday, April 16th Full Vision Arts Foundation presented their 3rd Annual Youth Arts & Entertainment Forum, an open entertainment industry forum and youth showcase hosted by celebrity mentors: Don "DC" Curry, musician D'Wayne Wiggins, spoken word artist Ise Lyfe, Hip Hop producer Krushadelic, broadcaster Larry Chew, fashion guru Charleston Pierce and organizer Tony Spires. Toldja So! Martin Lawrence Confirms Bad Boys 3!

As we originally reported way back in August, it looks like Martin Lawrence confirmed to MTV News yesterday- Bad Boys 3 is officially on with Lawrence and Will Smith!

If you remember a couple of months ago, we placed a story stating that we heard Hollywood execs were trying their best to bring back Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for a third installment of the Bad Boys films action franchise.

Well, as of today's news it seems that we were right- officially. Lawrence confirmed that Columbia Pictures is under way with the new film, and we discovered they have commissioned writer Peter Craig to begin work on a new screenplay.

Also as Lawrence and Smith had hoped for it seems the studio is close to signing on Michael Bay (of Transformers fame) and producer Jerry Bruckheimer back on board, both who were involved in the previous two films.

The original Bad Boys release hit cinemas in 1995, grossing a conservative $141 million worldwide, while Bad Boys 2, the sequel released eight years later, was a global box office smash, taking profits of $273 million.

Will Smith Officially Agrees To Do Men In Black 3!

This morning we were contacted by several sources who all confirmed one thing; it looks like Will Smith is back for Men In Black 3.

We also discovered that even his old partner in the film Tommy Lee Jones- who many thought would never do anther MIB film again- is back too.

As rumors would have it, and as we discovered several months ago, Smith had agreed to do the film, but the only real uncertainty was with Jones. After many conversations with the studio execs many speculated that Josh Brolin was going to be a replacement.

At the moment, little is known about the plot of Men In Black 3, which Sony will be aiming to get into cinemas by May 30, 2011, but we imagine it’ll involve Agent Jay (Smith) and Kay (Jones) getting in way over their heads with some angry alien beasties.

We also hear that this film, like every other film hitting theaters now, will be in glorious 3D.

More as this story develops.

As we previously reported, the show is the brainchild of Foxx, Crockett and MadTV creators Fax Bahr and Adam Small. As of this writing we also discovered that the cast should be rounded out in the next couple of days.
