EXCLUSIVE- The New Host Of 1st Amendment Is Sheryl Underwood!

As we reported several weeks ago, comedian Doug Williams, who is the co-creator and Executive Producer and former Host of the Martin Lawrence 1st Amendment Show on Starz, stepped aside as the Host of the show as it begins filming its fifth season.

At that same time, our sources disclosed that the show’s producers were thinking about replacing Williams with a new female host that would bring a different flavor to the show. Today we found out what that flavor is as our sources have told us that the NEW host of the show is comedian Sheryl Underwood!

Underwood, a former host of BET’s Comic View and current radio personality of the Tom Joyner Morning Show and The FOXXhole, is not unfamiliar to hosting and is expected to bring a different spin to the show.

Anyway, the Martin Lawrence 1st Amendment Show is one of the highest rated shows on the Starz Network and has been climbing in the ratings every year since its debut. No official word from the network of Underwood being named as the host, but we will let you know as soon as we find out!

Jamie Foxx Lands New Sketch Comedy Show At The FOX Network!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, we just discovered that Jamie Foxx has teamed up with comedic actor Affion Crockett for a new urban-flavored sketch-comedy show, which will air on the FOX network.

FOX has ordered a pilot for an untitled project executive produced by Foxx and fellow "In Living Color" scribes, "MadTV" creators Fax Bahr and Adam Small, with "Wild 'N Out" alum Crockett attached.

According to the report, the pilot is the result of merging two projects. Foxx was looking to do a sketch-comedy series with an urban twist and paired with Bahr and Small to pitch the idea to Fox.

Separately, Sony TV-based Tantamount was working on a sketch-comedy project starring Crockett, probably best known for his spoofs of Russell Simmons, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Drake and Jay-Z. Crockett also was attached to co-write with Carl Jones, a producer on Sony's animated comedy "The Boondocks," on which Jones voiced characters alongside Crockett and also served as a producer.

After hearing both pitches, Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly proposed marrying the projects.

The combination landed at FtvS, with Foxx executive producing alongside Small, Bahr, Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum as well as Marcus King and Jaime Rucker King, Foxx's managers and producing partners at Foxx King Entertainment.

Jones is co-executive producing, with Crockett a producer. Small, Bahr, Jones and Crockett are writing.
Foxx, who co-created, produced and toplined "The Jamie Foxx Show," had another sketch-comedy show with Bahr and Small in development last year at MTV.

Small and Bahr's series credits also include "Chocolate News" and "Blue Collar TV."

Comedian & Actress Kym Whitley Lands On TV With Two Hot New Shows!

We just discovered from our sources that actress and comedian Kym Whitley is about to have TWO new shows, one a sitcom and the other a reality based show.

First up is a show with Malinda Williams (of Showtime’s Soul Food fame) and Erica Hubbard (of Lincoln Heights fame). This new show which is written by Jacque Edmonds-Colfer (a well known writer and producer formerly of Cuts, Moesha, Living Single, just to name a few) is also the creator and Show runner of this new show titled Let’s Stay Together. The show is scheduled to premiere on BET sometime this year.

The other show Whitley will be starring is a reality based project from the producers of the very popular ABC show Extreme Makeover. This time those same producers tackle schools in the new show titled School Pride, which is being billed as an Extreme School Makeover. No word yet on when and where that show will debut, but we will have details for that show as soon as we can (our bet is that it may end up on ABC).

Tracy Morgan Replaces Terrance Howard In New Film!

Ok, we can admit, this one ALMOST slipped past us; we just discovered that comedian and very popular actor Tracy Morgan is having a year to remember; Morgan just joined actress Juliette Binoche and they both are in final negotiations to join the ensemble cop drama titled Son of No One, being directed by Dito Montiel.

The film so far also stars Channing Tatum, who plays a young cop assigned to a precinct in the working class neighborhood where he grew up, with an old secret surfacing and threatening to destroy his life and family. Another interesting thing we discovered is that we also hear that actors Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, and Katie Holmes are also in the cast.

What makes this even MORE intriguing is that Morgan is taking over this role that was vacated by actor Terrance Howard, as he will play Vinnie, a friend of Tatum's.No word yet on why Howard left the project, but rumors from the cast say that once again it was a dispute between Howard the the producers, almost as in Iron Man 2. Of course, we can't confirm or deny these reports.

We also hear that the film begins shooting in New York next week.

A Moment In Comedy History With... Reginald Hudlin!

Here is the first clip of a new series titled "A Moment In Comedy History With..." where we will examine major points in comedy history that the media didn't cover or something that may have been overlooked. This new series will look at what was overlooked or passed over.

Here is an interview with Director, writer, and producer Reginald Hudlin who was the original creator, writer and director (his brother Warrington was the film's Producer) of the House Party film.

In case you are unaware, Hudlin’s film House Party was originally a thesis for school he made while attending Harvard and the short thesis ended up as a feature film that was released in 1990.

The feature film ended up as an instant classis while also launching the careers of Kid & Play, Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Robin Harris, A J Johnson, Darryl “Chill” Mitchell, Full Force, and many others.

We got a chance to sit down with Hudlin to discuss the film (since it is the 20 year anniversary of the release of House Party) and we discovered lots of interesting things that occurred in the development of the film- especially how Will Smith almost landed in the film! Imagine that!

Check out the interview!

‘Laverne & Shirley’ Remake To Be Written By Jamie Foxx!

Word has started to spread about the new Jamie Foxx project because of a TV Guide report that the comedian, musician and actor is supposedly said to be writing a script for a big screen adaptation of TV’s Laverne & Shirley with the show’s co-creator, Garry Marshall.

We hear that it will be a different take, more of a modern day scenario on how they came up on the streets during difficult times. We hear that the Laverne character would be this very tough girl with a big ‘L’ tattooed on her arm.

Marshall is looking at Jennifer Garner for the role of Laverne and Jessica Biel for the part of Shirley. He directed both actresses as well as Foxx in romantic comedy Valentine’s Day.

If you remember the old series on ABC, Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams played the roles in the original series.

According to our sources Foxx did agree to write the script but is bogged down with several other projects from writing a new album, to several new films including writing the new film he writing with Martin Lawrence titled Sheneneh and Wanda from Screen Gems. So, we are not too sure about the time table of this project as it seems Foxx will be extremely busy for the next several years.
