Wanda Sykes, who has starred in sitcoms and feature films, won Emmys® for her comedy writing and sports commentaries, and even entertained Presidents is returning to
HBO for her second solo special on the network titled
WANDA SYKES: I’MA BE ME which debuts Saturday, Oct. 10th exclusively on HBO. (Check your local listings)
Taped in August before a live audience at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., the special features the outspoken comic performing material featured in her current national stand-up tour, where she addresses such topics as having a new “cool” black President, coming out, the real Michelle Obama, being a new mom, getting her first bikini wax, health care town halls, pirates and working as an entertainer on a gay cruise.
Sykes has been an HBO mainstay for many years. The Emmy®-nominated
Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired,her first solo special on the network, debuted in 2006. As one of the writers on
The Chris Rock Show, she shared an Emmy® in 1999 for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program, and also won Emmys® in 2002 and 2004 for her humorous commentaries on
Inside the NFL. In addition, she has appeared frequently on Larry David’s hit HBO series
Curb Your Enthusiasm, and will be featured on the new season of the show, which kicks off Sept. 20th.
