Damon Wayans Calls It Quits From Stand-Up!

We have discovered through our sources that comedian and actor Damon Wayans has called it quits from doing stand-up. No official word from his camp just yet, but our sources have confirmed this to us.

If you recall, Wayans, beginning his career as a stand-up comic in 1982, landed a role as a featured performer on Saturday Night Live. Wayans went on to star in 4 of his own HBO specials, and for three seasons, he co-starred and wrote for the Emmy® Award-winning series, In Living Color, for which he also personally received two Emmy nominations.

Wayans has also starred in a number of films, including Bamboozled, Major Payne, Blankman, Bulletproof and Mo' Money, which he also wrote and executive produced. Additional film credits include The Great White Hype, Celtic Pride, The Last Boy Scout, Earth Girls are Easy, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Colors, Punchline, Hollywood Shuffle, Roxanne, and Beverly Hills Cop. And who can forget his other TV credit, his very popular ABC sitcom My Wife and Kids.

Wayans is no less talented as an author. May of 1999 saw the release of Bootleg, a humorous compilation of his observations regarding family, children, marriage, and politics. The book was a tremendous success and quickly reached the New York Times Bestseller List. There has also been word that Wayans is about to drop another book, plus his very quick partnership with YouTube for his WayOut TV venture recently ended.

Overall Wayans career has spanned over the years and the focal point of his success has been his stand-up. There is news that Wayans has several projects in the works, including a new TV show supposedly for the fall.

Mo'Nique's Radio Show Coming Back?

After several phone calls to our sources in radio, we have discovered that comedian and actress Mo'Nique might not be off the radio that long after all. In case you didnt know, The Mo'Nique Show was canceled after several months in syndication by distributor Syndication One, and after leading in all of her key demos in every market.

It should be noted here that Syndication One also released a statement to all news outlets that Mo'Nique was going to have her last day on the air on Wednesday but that never materialized. The last show was really last Friday March 13th, and in the midst of giving her final good-byes to her loyal listeners, she was abruptly cut off in several of her markets.

Anyway, we have discovered that Mo"Nique is in talks with another syndication company and if the deal goes down right, could be back on the air within 30 days.

Mo'Nique's Radio Show Cancelled

As you may remember, we reported several months ago that comedian and actress MoNique's syndicated radio show was in big trouble because it was dropped in a major market. That market was Los Angeles (KDAY), and as we said back then, the show was in trouble. Well, now news has been released that the inevitable has happened. Mo’Nique’s radio show has been cancelled. The last show will run on Wednesday (March 18th) after just eight months on the air.

Here’s the twist; Mo’Nique released a statement saying she is canceling her show in order to "further her career in television, film and comedy." But several statements have been issued to us stating that the show was canceled by distributor Syndication One. This is the one we are leaning to because as Mo’Nique was signing off in several markets she was abruptly cut off the air. We will have more news on this story as it develops.
