Our sources have discovered that actor and comedian Martin Lawrence is about to tackle a film with similar traits to Eddie Murphy's Coming To America. We hear that production company Alcon Entertainment has acquired the film Back to America, a film that is about a working-class man from Queens who discovers he is heir to the throne of an African country and travels there to claim his birthright.

Cedric The Entertainer Back On TV & New Film

We just discovered from Cedric The Entertainer that his TV show he has been developing has finally landed on TV, and his film with George Lopez is finally under way also.

We hear that ABC has moved forward on his TV show titled The Law, which is a new comedy pilot that features Cedric the Entertainer as its star and executive producer. The Law revolves around reserve police officers for the LAPD who balance their full-time off-duty lives with the excitement of being weekend cops. It should be noted that this is not the show that Ced filmed last pilot season for ABC that also starred Regina Hall. That show never made its broadcast debut.

The film that stars Ced and Lopez, yet to be titled, is about two warring fathers dealing with their children who fell in love and the conflicts that come about from two families with different nationalities. That film should get underway by the end of the year for MGM.
